By the 10 & 11 Vic. c. 90, § 1, the administration of the Irish Poor Laws was placed under the control of a separate Commission, styled the "Commissioners for Administering the Laws for Relief of the Poor in Ireland." The constitution of this Commission was afterwards changed by the Medical Charities Act, 14 & 15 Vic. c. 68, but their title remains the same. The powers given by this sec. are given to the Poor Law Commissioners for Ireland, and their Inspectors, by § 19 of 10 & 11 Vic. c. 90. Administration of Relief to be under Control of sioners: Agreements, Accounts, Maps, Plans, Surveys, Valuations, and Writings, or Copies thereof respectively, in anywise relating to any such Matter; or, where the Commissioners or Com missioner shall think fit, in lieu of requiring such Oaths as aforesaid, to require any such Person to make and subseribe a Heclaration of the Truth of the Matters respecting which he shall have been or shall be so examined: Provided always, that no Person shall be required, in obedience to any such Semmons, to go more than Twenty Statute Miles from the lace of his Abode: Provided also, that nothing herein contained shall extend to authorize or empower the Commissioners to aet as a Court of Record, or to require the Produetion of the Title, or any Papers or Writings relating to the Title, of any Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments, not being Property vested in the Commissioners by virtue of this Aet. COMMISSIONERS: THEIR POWERS, &c. 3. And be it enacted, That from and after the passing of this Act, the Administration of Relief to the Poor throughout Ireland, the Commis according to such Laws as shall be in Force at the Time being, shall be subject to the Direction and Control of the Commissioners: and for executing the Powers given to them by this Act, the Commissioners are hereby authorized and required, from Time to Time as they shall see Occasion, to make and issue all who are to pur |
