After the bans have been published three several Holidays or Sundays, and no impediment is difcovered; the Prieft, in the prefence of three, or two witnesses at least, queftioneth the parties (who ought to be accompanied by their parents, or relations) concerning their confent to enter with one another into the married ftate, and firft he says to the bridegroom :
Pr. N. Are you willing to take N. here present for your lawful wife, according to the rites of our holy mother the Church? A. I am willing.
Then he fays to the Bride:
Pr. N. Are you willing to take N. here present for your lawful hufband, according to the rites of our holy mother the Church? A. I am willing.
Then the Bride is given away by her Father, or fome Friend; and if he was never married before, The hath her gloves off: if a widow, fhe keeps them The Bridegroom takes her right hand in his right hand, and thus engages himself to her, faying:
Bridegroom. I N. take thee N. to my wedded wife, to have, and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in ficknefs and in health, till death do us part, if holy Church will permit it: and thereto I plight thee my troth.
Then they part hands, and join them again. Bride. I N. take thee N. to my wedded hufband, to have, &c. as above.
Pr. I JOIN YOU IN WEDLOCK, IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, AND OF THE SON, AND OF TILE HOLY GHOSт. Amen.
Then the Bridegroom lays fome gold and filver and the ring on the book.

Lefs, O Lord, this ring, which we bless in thy
end who is to wear
preferving an inviolable fidelity to her husband, may remain in thy peace and good-will, and live always in mutual love with him. Thro' Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
Then the Bridegroom taking the ring from the Prieft, and holding the right hand of the Bride in his left hand, fays:
Bridegroom. With this Ring I thee wed, this gold and filver I thee give, and with my body I thee worship, and with all my worldly goods I thee endow.
Then putting the Ring on the Bride's thumb, he fays In the name of the Father. Then he puts it on the forefinger, faying: And of the Son. Then on the middle finger, faying: And of the Holy Ghost. Then on the next finger, faying: Amen. And there he leaves it on.
V. Ratify, O Lord, what thou haft performed by our miniftry. R. From thy holy temple,
V.Confirma hoc, Deus, quod operatus es in nobis. R. A templo fancto tuo, quod eft in Jerusa
which is in Jerufalem, V. Lord have mercy on us. R. Christ have mercy on us. V. Lord have mercy on us. Our Father, &c. V. And lead us not into temptation. R. But deliver us from evil. V. Save thy fervants. R. Who put their truft in thee, O my God. V. Send them help from thy fanctuary. R. And from out of Sion protect them. V. O Lord hear my prayer. R. And let my cry come unto thee. V. May the Lord be with you. R. And with thy fpirit.

OOK down, we beseech thee, O Lord, upon these thy fervants, and vouchfafe graciously to favour this thy inftitution, by which thou haft ordained the propagation of mankind; that they who are joined together by thy authority, may be preserved by thy aid. Thro' Christ our Lord. R. Amen.

Let us pray. Omnipotens.
Almighty and eternal God, who hast given thy fervants in the confeffion of the true faith, to acknowledge the glory of three divine perfons, and to adore them as one God in the power of majefty; we beseech thee, that by the ftrength of this faith, this thy handmaid may be always defended from all misfortunes. Thro' Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
Let us pray. Lord creator of all terrible, juft and merciful, who alone art good and compaffionate: who delivereft Ifrael from all misfortunes: who didft make choice of our forefathers, and fanctify them by the gift of thy holy spirit who didft prepare, together with the Holy Ghoft, the body and foul of glorious Mary the Virgin, to become a fit habitation for thy Son: who didft caufe John the Baptift to be filled with the Holy Ghost, and leap in the womb of his mother:
receive the facrifice of a contrite heart, and the earneft request of thy handmaid N. who humbly intreateth thee for the prefervation of the tender fruit of her womb, which thou haft granted her to conceive: preferve thy fervant at her bringing-forth, and protect her from all the wiles and infults of her cruel enemy, that, by the affiftance of thy mercy, the fruit of her whomb may come to this light in fafety, and be preferved for a new birth, and may conftantly ferve thee in all things, and obtain eternal life.
