Her various produce nature yields, And plenty smiles o'er all her fields. 4 Seasons, and months, and weeks, and days, Demand successive songs of praise: Oh! be the grateful homage paid, With morning light, and evening shade! 5 Here in thy house let incense rise, As circling sabbaths bless our eyes; Till to those glorious realms we soar, Where days and years revolve no more. PSALM 68. (L. M.)

The ascension of Christ and its consequences. v. 17, 18.
1 LORD! when Thou didst ascend on high,
Ten thousand angels fill'd the sky:
Those heavenly guards around Thee wait,
Like chariots that attend thy state,
2 Not Sinai's mountain brighter shone,
When there Jehovah fix'd his throne,
And thence proclaim'd his holy law,
Which struck the chosen tribes with awe.
3 How great his triumph, who can tell?
How fall'n the' apostate powers of hell,
When man their captive He set free,
And captive led captivity!

4 Rais'd by the Father to his throne,
He sent the promised Spirit down,
With gifts for men, rebellious men,
That God might dwell on earth again.
PSALM 72. (L. M.)

The glory and extent of Christ's kingdom, 1 JESUS shall reign, where'er the sun Doth his successive journies run;

His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more. 2 To Him shall endless prayer be made; To Him eternal honours paid; His name, like holy incense, rise With every morning sacrifice.

3 Remotest realms shall own his sway; And mightiest kings his power obey; Him babes and sucklings shall proclaim; Their lisping tongues shall bless his name. 4 Blessings abound where'er He reigns; The captive drops his loosen'd chains; The weary find eternal rest;

And all the sons of want are blest. 5 Where He displays his healing power, Death and the curse are known no more: In Him the tribes of Adam boast More blessings than their Father lost. 6 In loftiest strains, with one accord, Let all creation bless the Lord! Let heaven and earth their voices raise, To sound his everlasting praise !

PSALM 84. 1st version. (P. M.)

The house of God the joy of the Christian.

1 LORD of the worlds above,
How pleasant, and how fair
The dwellings of thy love,
Thy earthly temples are!
To thine abode
Our hearts aspire,
With warm desire,
To meet our God.

2 O happy souls that pray
Where God appoints to hear!
O happy men that pay

Their constant service there!
They praise Thee still;-
Thrice happy they,

That love the way

To Zion's hill.

3 They go from strength to strength
Through this dark vale of tears;
Till each appears at length,
Till each in heaven appears
To that blest seat,
O God our King!
Direct and bring
Our willing feet.

PSALM 84. 2d version. (S. M.)

The house of God pleasant to the Christian.

How fair thy dwelling-place,
O Lord of Hosts, how fair!

We love to tread its sacred courts,
And meet thy presence there.

The sparrow finds a place,

The swallow builds her nest,
And sheltering, safe their infant cares,
Amidst thine altars rest.

S Blest they, who round thy throne
Their cheerful voices raise!

They see thy face, thy glory see;
And all their work is praise.
