us, and washed us from our sins in thy own blood. And, O how infinitely indebted am I to thy mercy, that thou callest me to this heavenly entertainment, which cost thee so dear, to purchase and provide for thy guilty creatures! O make me more sensible of thy love, and more thankful for all its blessed effects. Give me strength against all the temptations that would pluck me from thee, and engage me in rebellion against thee; and such refreshments as may draw off my heart from the pleasures of sin, and make it my meat and drink to do the will of my heavenly Father. Who shall pluck me out of his hands? Who shall separate me from his love? So disclose thy glorious, lovely attributes, as to take captive my affections. Thine I am, O Lord, and thine may I be, while I have my being. Yes, Lord of all power and love, I beseech thee, keep thy servant from falling, and preserve me in every time and case of danger. O suffer me not to work my own ruin; but pity my frailty, and relieve my infirmity; and in thy hands let me be safe and never perish, but attain to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ my great Redeemer and only Saviour. Amen.

BEFORE RECEIVING THE BREAD.

O Lord Jesus, I receive this memorial of thy crucified body in remembrance of the sacrifice of the cross, trusting only in thy infinite righteousness, and atoning death. May this bread nourish my soul to eternal life.

AFTER RECEIVING THE BREAD.

I bless thy name, O my Saviour, for giving thy precious body to be the food of my soul. By thy almighty power, may it strengthen me for thy service; that faithful to my vows, I may henceforth always walk as with thy presence dwelling in me.

BEFORE RECEIVING THE CUP.

The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth from all sin. I will receive the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. May it be to me a fountain of pardon, purity, and peace, springing up to eternal life.

AFTER RECEIVING THE CUP.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, to thee I have dedicated myself. Thine I am by every holy tie. O maintain thy property in thy servant. Set up thy throne of grace in my heart; and let nothing separate me from the love of God, in Christ Jesus.
