CHAPTER 55

An Act to amend The Factories Act.

[Assented to February 7, 1927.]

HIS Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of

the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts

as follows:

1. Subsection (4) of section 17 of The Factories Act is Rev. Stat. repealed and the following substituted therefor:

"(4) Every employer shall be responsible for ventilating the factory in such a manner as to keep the air reasonably pure. If dust, gases, fumes, vapours, fibres or other impurities are generated or released in the course of the manufacturing process or handicraft carried on in any work room of the factory in quantities tending to injure the health of the employees, suction devices shall be provided which shall remove such impurities from the atmosphere of the work room at their point of origin, where practicable, by means of proper hoods connected to conduits and exhaust fans. Such fans shall be kept running constantly while the impurities are being generated or released."

2. This Act shall come into force on the first day of Coming into May, 1927.

CHAPTER 56

An Act to amend The Steam Boilers Act.

[Assented to February 7, 1927.]

IS Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

1. The Steam Boilers Act is amended in the manner hereinafter set forth.

2.-(1) Paragraph 1 of section 2 is amended by inserting after the word "include" in the first line the words "steam boilers on motor vehicles within the meaning of The Vehicles Act or."

(2) Subsection (2) of the said section 2, as enacted by chapter 69 of the statutes of 1921-22, is amended by inserting after the words "owner or user of" in the fourth line the words "any steam boiler on a motor vehicle within the meaning of The Vehicles Act or of."

CHAPTER 57

An Act to amend The Theatres and Cinematographs

Act

[Assented to March 1, 1927.]

IS Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts.

as follows:

1. The Theatres and Cinematographs Act is amended in Rev. Stat. the manner hereinafter set forth.

2. Section 15 is repealed and the following substituted New section therefor:

"15. The censor or censors may require any person Censoring of to submit for approval or rejection any posters, litho-lithographs graphs or other advertisements depicting scenes from, and intended to be used or displayed in connection with, a film or slide to be exhibited within Saskatchewan, and may in his or their discretion prohibit the further use or display of any posters, lithographs or advertisements until satisfied that the same are fit for public exhibition."

3. Section 19 is amended by striking out all the words Section 19 after "Provincial Secretary" in the third and fourth lines."

CHAPTER 58

An Act to amend The Vehicles Act, 1924.

[Assented to March 1, 1927.}

IS Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

1. The Vehicles Act, 1924, is amended in the manner hereinafter set forth.

2-(1) Subsection (5) of section 3 is repealed and the following substituted therefor:

"(5) The license shall be carried on the vehicle in a reasonably conspicuous position in the driver's compartment or on the person of the operator and produced for inspection upon the demand of an inspector, police officer or constable or other authorised person."

(2) The said section 3 is further amended by inserting after subsection (7) the following subsections:

"(7a) Where a motor vehicle for which a license has been issued is thereafter converted, the Provincial Secretary shall, on return of the license and license plates and payment of the fee of $2 or, where the fee for the new license exceeds that paid for the former license, such additional fee as is prescribed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, re-register the motor vehicle and issue a new license and new license plates.

"(7b) In case an exchange of license only is required, where the fee for the new license exceeds that paid for the former license, the new license shall be issued upon payment of the difference, or, where the fee for the new license does not exceed that paid for the former license, upon payment of a fee of $2."

3. Subsection (1) of section 7 is repealed and the following substituted therefor:

"(1) Every number plate shall bear the registered number of the vehicle, the year during which the number is in force or an abbreviation thereof, and the word Saskatchewan or the abbreviation 'Sask.""

4. Section 22 is repealed and the following substituted New section therefor:

"22. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Nonresidents Act, any person who:

"(a) habitually resides outside the province; and
"(b) has complied with the laws of his place of
residence as to the registration of motor vehicles;
and

"(c) carries such certificate as is required by the law
of his place of residence;

may use his motor vehicle within the province for a period
of, or for periods together amounting to, three months in
any year, and during such time he shall not be required
to register his motor vehicle."

5. (1) Subsections (2) and (3) of section 25, as Section 25 enacted by section 9 of chapter 52 of the statutes of 1925-26, are repealed and the following substituted therefor:

"(2) All lamps carried on the front of a motor vehicle shall be so arranged that no portion of the direct beam of reflected or refracted light issuing therefrom shall, when measured seventy-five feet ahead of such lamps, rise above forty-two inches from the level surface on which the motor vehicle stands."

(2) Subsection (4) of the said section 25 is amended by changing "subsection (3)" in the second line to "subsection (2)."

6. This Act shall come into force on the first day of Coming into May, 1927.
