CHAPTER 78

An Act to incorporate The Religious Education
Council of Saskatchewan.

[Assented to March 1, 1927.]

W

HEREAS there has existed in the Province of Saskatchewan for some years, an association known as The Religious Education Council of Saskatchewan, whose objects have been the promotion of religious education, particularly among the young, in the Province of Saskatchewan; and

Whereas the said association, through the officers and members undermentioned, have by their petition set forth that the incorporation of the said association would enable them to attain more effectually their objects; and

Whereas the said petition prays for the incorporation of the said association, and it is expedient that the prayer of the said petition be granted:

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

1. Charles W. Morgan, minister; Archibald Lamont McLean, barrister; Wilfred George Scott, secretary; David W. Houston, superintendent; and Stuart Muirhead, superintendent, all of the city of Regina, in the Province of Saskatchewan, and such others as shall hereafter from time to time become under the provisions of this Act members of the said corporation, shall be and are hereby constituted a body corporate and politic, under the name of "The Religious Education Council, of Saskatchewan," for the purposes and objects herein specified:

(a) to acquire all the assets of the voluntary association known as the Religious Education Council of Saskatchewan, and to carry on the work of the said council and generally to assist in and develop the work of religious education, particularly among the young people through the various churches in the Province of Saskatchewan;

(b) to acquire by gift, devise, purchase, exchange, lease or otherwise, real or personal property

of any and every nature and kind whatsoever,
particularly for the purpose of camp-sites in
the Province of Saskatchewan, for the purpose
of holding summer-schools for developing re-
ligious education, particularly among the young,
and to possess, hold and enjoy same as owner:
provided, however, that the said corporation
shall not acquire or hold as purchaser any
land except for the actual use and occupation of
the corporation exceeding in the whole, at any
time, the annual sum of five thousand ($5,000)
dollars and that lands, tenements, or heredita-
ments acquired by gift, devise or bequest and not
required for the purposes of the corporation, the
annual value of which, together with the other
land of the corporation, exceeds $5,000, shall
not be held by the corporation for a longer
period than seven (7) years and within such
period the same shall be absolutely disposed of
by the said corporation, and in case of failure.

years such land shall revert to the Crown in
the right of the province;

(c), to borrow from any person, firm or corporation,
such sum or sums of money as may be found
necessary for the purposes of the corporation.
and to secure any loan to the lender or lenders
by bonds, debentures, bills of exchange, promis-
sory notes, mortgages, or any other instrument
or instruments that may be required or deemed
necessary or advisable by the lender or lenders;
(d) to acquire by purchase or otherwise build and
erect and to maintain such building or buildings
as may be found or deemed necessary or con-
venient for carrying on the objects of the
corporation;

(e) to buy, sell and deal in religious books, manuals,
articles, and objects pertaining to the work
of religious education among the young people
in the Province of Saskatchewan.

2. The head office of the corporation shall be in the Head office city of Regina, in the Province of Saskatchewan.

3. The affairs of the corporation shall be managed and Board of controlled by a general board composed of members of the corporation elected in accordance with the constitution and bylaws of the corporation.

4. The real and personal property, assets, rights, Transfer of credits and effects of every description of the voluntary Property

An Act to incorporate The Orange Benevolent

Society of Saskatchewan.

[Assented to March 1, 1927.]

WHEREAS

HEREAS The Orange Benevolent Society of Saskat- Preamble a benevolent society under chapter 83 of The Revised Statutes of Saskatchewan, 1920, have by their petition prayed that it be enacted as hereinafter set forth, and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the said petition:

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

1. The Orange Benevolent Society of Saskatchewan Incorporation heretofore incorporated as a benevolent society under chapter 83 of The Revised Statutes of Saskatchewan of 1920, and such persons as are now or may hereafter become members of such society, hereinafter referred to as "the society," shall be and are hereby continued a body corporate and politic under the name of The Orange Benevolent Society of Saskatchewan, and shall under the said name have power:

(c) to practise works of benevolence and charity throughout the Province of Saskatchewan in respect of children and infirm or indigent or aged adults;

(d) and for such purposes to formulate rules and regulations of discipline and for such purposes to appoint officers and servants as may be necessary for carrying into effect the objects. and purposes of the society and to cancel or rescind such appointments at pleasure.

2. In addition to the powers, rights and privileges conferred upon or vested in corporations by the laws of Saskatchewan the said society shall have full power and authority:

(a) to acquire by gift, devise, bequest, transfer, purchase, exchange, lease or otherwise real and personal property of any and every nature and kind whatsoever and to possess, hold and enjoy the same as owner:

Provided, however, that the said society shall not acquire or hold as purchasers any land (except for the actual use and occupation of the society, or for the purposes of the society) exceeding in the whole at any one time the annual value of ten thousand dollars, and that lands, tenements or hereditaments acquired by gift, devise or bequest and not required for the actual use and occupation of the society or for the purposes of the society, the annual value of which together with the other land of the society exceeds ten thousand dollars, shall not be held by the society for a longer period than seven years and within such period the same shall be absolutely disposed of by the society and in case of failure to dispose of the same within such seven years such land shall revert to the Crown in the right of the province; (b) to sell, mortgage, lease, exchange or otherwise. deal with or dispose of its real and personal property or any portion of either and with the proceeds thereof to acquire other real and personal property to such extent as may be deemed advisable or desirable, and to make and execute all necessary or proper conveyances, transfers, or other instruments for carrying the same into effect;

(c) to invest all or any sums of money belonging to the society in any property or security whatsoever for the use and purposes of the society;
