Objections on the part of certain of the miners against the proposed issue of leases to companies. LAND SALES, AND SETTLEMENT ON THE GOLD FIELDS. Considerable land sales effected, and a great disposition evinced by the population to settle permanently in the gold districts. Statement relative to the health, good order, and success of the population at the various gold locali- ties as named, the general yield at the old and new workings, &c.

Satisfactory operation of the new Act for the manage- ment of the gold fields; opposition to the enact- ment; memorial from storekeepers.
