Government House, Sydney, I HAVE the honour to enclose the following returns for the quarter ended on the 30th June last. 1st. Return showing the quantity and value of gold exported; gold brought to Sydney; and the number of licences granted to dig, search for, and remove gold; to erect temporary buildings, tents, &c., and to carry on business in any way at the Gold Fields. 2d. Return of the quantity of gold exported from the colonies of New South Wales and Victoria. 2. The total amount brought to Sydney by escort and mails during the quarter was 29,965 oz. 1 dwt. 3 grains. The licences to dig, &c. amounted to 6,2797. 15s., not including the leases to work auriferous veins, the royalty on matrix gold, or the conveyance of gold by escort. 3. The gold exported from Sydney during the quarter was 85,132 oz. 4 grs. 5 dwts., value 276,6797. 13s. 7d., but this includes the amount brought from Victoria. Od., not including the leases to work auriferous veins, the royalty on matrix gold, and the conveyance of gold by escort. 3. The gold exported from Sydney during the quarter was 49,893 oz. 7 dwts. 12 grs., but this includes the amount brought from Victoria. 4. I also forward copies of the 13th and 14th Reports upon the Geological and Mineralogical Survey, by Mr. Stuchbury. I have, &c.
