To assert that the Lord is powerful, righteous, pure, and merciful, means that He is so to an inconceivable extent:-in other words, the Lord is powerful, but, in a manner, we cannot define;-He is just, but His equity is unlike that of men ;-He is a pure Spirit, but, to a degree, surpassing our ideas of immaculate purity;-while His inexhaustible goodness is above all His works.

In fact, if previous attributes seem more calculated to excite that "fear which is the beginning of wisdom," the Lord's infinite mercy should produce in our hearts, that Love Divine, which is the first commandment,-the law's fulfilment,--and the bond of perfection.

End, Who is, Who was, and Who is to come, the Almighty;" (Apoc.)-to the Omnipotent Arbiter of all things; to the only God and Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and magnificence, empire and power, praise and benediction, for all ages of ages.Amen." (Jude.)

"The sweetest theme must have an end;
The dearest friends must part, we know;
The longest day will wear away;
Then, we must say, farewell, and pray.
The eye may tell when hearts are full;
For words cannot speak all we wish :
They're feeble, faltering and few,
While the last greeting is-ADIEU !
