An Act to amend the "Landlord and Tenant Act."

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the "Landlord and Tenant Act Short title. Amendment Act, 1913."

2. Subsection (1) of section 19 of the "Landlord and Tenant Amends s. 19. Act," being chapter 126 of the "Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1911," is hereby amended by striking out all the words from and including the fourteenth line to and including the word "annexed" in the nineteenth line of said subsection, and substituting therefor the following: "demise or right of occupation, if in writing (or if a copy cannot be so annexed by reason of the said writing being mislaid, lost, or destroyed, or of being in possession Lost document. of the tenant, or from any other cause, then annexing a statement setting forth the terms of the demise or occupation, and the reason why a copy of the said writing cannot be annexed)."

An Act to amend the "Cannery Licence Act."

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the "Cannery Licence Act Amend- Short title. ment Act, 1913."

2. Chapter 19 of the Statutes of 1912 is hereby repealed.

3. Sections 1 and 2 of chapter 141 of the "Revised Statutes of Re-enacts ss. 1 and British Columbia, 1911," are hereby repealed, and the following substituted therefor:

"Short Title.

"1. This Act may be cited as the Canneries Licence Act.' 1912, Short title. c. 19, s. 2.

"Interpretation.

"2. In the construction and for the purposes of this Act (if not
inconsistent with the context or subject-matter), the following terms
shall have the respective meanings hereinafter assigned to them:-
"Salmon' includes all kinds and classes of fish usually known "Salmon."
and described by the trade-names of sockeyes, red and
white springs, humpbacks, pinks, dog-salmon, cohoes, and
steelheads:

"Cannery' means and shall include the land, buildings, struc- "Cannery."
tures, machinery (movable and immovable), apparatus,
appurtenances, and appliances usually occupied and used
in the business of salmon-canning, or of converting the
natural salmon into canned salmon :

"One-line cannery' means and shall include a cannery where
the operating machinery is used in one continuous and
complete process for the purpose of converting the natural
salmon into canned salmon; and, similarly, 'two-line,'
'three-line,' and 'four-line' canneries mean and shall
include canneries where a double, triple, or quadruple
plant is operated to produce canned salmon for the
market as an article of commerce by similar continuous
and complete processes:
"Fish-packing establishment' means and shall include the
land, buildings, structures, machinery (movable and
immovable), apparatus, appurtenances, appliances, and
accessories used in the business of icing, cold-storage of
salmon, herring, or any other kind of fish, or in the
business of icing, freezing, curing, or pickling salmon,
herring, or any other kind of fish: R.S. 1911, c. 141, s. 2;
1912, c. 19, s. 3.

"Herring shall mean and include California sardine, shad,
and also all kinds and classes of fish usually known as
'herring': 1912, c. 19, s. 4.
"Oil-refinery' and 'fertilizer plant' shall mean and include

the land, buildings, structures, machinery and appur-
tenances, appliances and accessories used in the business
of manufacturing oil or fertilizer from fish or whales."

4. Section 7 of said chapter 141 is hereby repealed, and the following is substituted therefor :

"7. The licence fees to be paid by each applicant shall be as follows, namely:

"For the operation of a one-line cannery, one hundred dollars: "For the operation of a two-line cannery, two hundred dollars: "For the operation of a three-line cannery, three hundred dollars:

"For the operation of a four-line cannery, four hundred dollars: "For the operation of a fish-packing establishment, for each establishment, one hundred dollars:

"For the operation of an oil-refinery or fertilizer plant, or both, for each refinery or plant, one hundred dollars.

"And all such fees shall be paid in advance for each year commencing on the first April and ending on the thirty-first March of the following year, or for any portion of such year."

An Act to amend the "Liquor Licence Act."

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the "Liquor Licence Act Amend- Short title. ment Act, 1913."

2. The "Liquor Licence Act," being chapter 142 of the "Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1911," is hereby amended by inserting

the following as section 3A:

"3A. Nothing in this or any other Act, or in any municipal by-law, Not to apply torelating to the sale of intoxicating liquor shall apply

"(a.) 3. Sections 13, 16, 39, 59, 60, 61, 64, 65, 66, 67, and 68 of said Repeal. chapter 142 and section 4 of chapter 20 of the Statutes of 1912 are
