IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the "City of Victoria Official Map Short title. Act, 1893, Amendment Act, 1913."

inclusive.

2. Sections 23 to 35, inclusive, of chapter 66 of the Statutes of Repeals ss. 23 to 35, 1893, being the "City of Victoria Official Map Act," are hereby repealed.

An Act to authorize an Agreement between the Esquimalt Waterworks Company and the City of Victoria for a Temporary Supply of Water.

HEREAS the Municipal Corporation of the City of Victoria Preamble. has entered into a contract for the construction of a water system for delivering sixteen million imperial gallons of water daily from Sooke Lake, in the Malahat District, to the existing water mains and pipes in the City of Victoria; but until the said work is completed the existing water system of the said city is not sufficient for the needs of its present population, and unless temporary arrangement is made for an adequate supply of water in the meantime the inhabitants of the said city will suffer from lack of water:

And whereas the Esquimalt Waterworks Company is willing to enter into an agreement with the city providing for the temporary supply of water to the existing water system of the said city:

And whereas doubts have arisen as to the power to enter into such agreement to supply water as aforesaid for a term less than five years, and a temporary supply for a shorter period only is required as is herein before set out:

Therefore, His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

It shall be lawful for the said Company and Municipal Corpora- Power to enter into tion to enter into and perform an agreement providing for the supplying, at a price to be mutually agreed upon, of water by the Company to the existing water system of the said city, and the taking of and paying for same by said Municipal Corporation from the date of said agreement until the thirty-first day of December,

1913, and thereafter until such time as the city has, in the judgment of its Water Commissioner, secured an adequate supply of water from its Sooke Lake system and given at least thirty days' notice to the Company that it does not require any further supply of the Company's water, but the period for the supplying of water under said agreement shall in no event exceed the period of five years from the date thereof.
