One cell of closed circuit battery and about 50 cells of open circuit batteries (either dry or solution) will be required. One set of batteries will furnish signalling power for an exchange of 100 subscribers for about 24 months; 200 subscribers 15 months; 300 subscribers 12 months; 500 subscribers 8 months; or in other words, the total cost will not exceed twenty-five cents per month for each 100 subscribers. This furnishes the cheapest power on earth. The machine proper is indestructible, as there are no wearing parts whatever, except in five contact brushes and three contact pins. The brushes will last two or three years without renewing and only cost 25c each. Contact pins cost 30c each, but should last five years or more.
