Unless and until altered or revoked in manner above prescribed, the rates of rent set forth in Schedule II. hereto shall be and remain in force.

All sums due under this section may be recovered before a District Commissioner, and in default of payment the Court may direct the amount to be levied by distress and sale of the depositor's goods or may commit him to prison for any period not exceeding six months.

15. Where any fire-arms or ammunition imported into the Colony are, without the proper authority or license, kept in any place other than a public warehouse, the occupier of such place (unless he can prove that the same was deposited there without his knowledge or consent) and also the owner of, or other person guilty of keeping the same, shall be guilty of an offence against this Ordinance.

16. Whoever by himself or any one in his service deals in or keeps or exposes for the purpose of being dealt in arms of precision whether in whole or in part or any ammunition intended for them to be dealt in. shall be guilty of an offence against this Ordinance. Provided that where a person is desirous of selling or giving any arm of precision with or without ammunition intended for it to another person, the Governor upon production of the license to bear such arm of precision in order that it may be cancelled and upon the person to whom such arm of precision with or without ammunition is to be sold or given affording sufficient guarantees that such arm of precision and ammunition (if any) will not be sold or given to any third party may permit such sale or gift and issue to such person a license to bear fire-arms in the Form G in Schedule I. hereto.

Seizure and detention.

17. It shall be lawful for any District Commissioner, if satisfied by information on oath that any fire-arms or ammunition are being unlawfully kept, conveyed, landed or dealt in, contrary to the provisions of this Ordinance at any place, whether building or not, or in any ship or vehicle, to grant a warrant to enter at any time, and if needs be by force, on Sundays as well as on other days, the place, ship or vehicle named in such warrant, and every part thereof, and to examine the same, and to search for any fire-arms or ammunition unlawfully kept therein, and to demand from the owner or occupier thereof the production of his license or authority for keeping, conveying, landing or dealing in the same.

When the officer or other person executing such warrant has reasonable cause to believe that such fire-arms or ammunition found by him in any such place, ship or vehicle are being kept, conveyed, landed or dealt in contrary to the provisions of this Ordinance, he may seize and detain the same until a District Commissioner has decided whether the same are liable to be forfeited or not.

19. Whosoever attempts to commit or aids or abets in the com- Accomplices. mission of any offence against this Ordinance may be dealt with in the same way, and shall be liable to the same penalty, as if he were charged with the actual offence.

20. It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to Power to time, subject to the provisions of this Ordinance, to make, alter and make rules. revoke such rules as he may consider expedient, for the purpose of,

(1) Adding to the forms given in Schedule I. to this Ordinance or altering any of them;

(2) Regulating the landing, storage, withdrawal, conveyance, transit or dealing in of any fire-arms or ammunition imported or introduced into the Colony; and

(3) Generally with respect to public and private warehouses and for better carrying the provisions of this Ordinance into effect.

All such rules shall be published in the Gazette, and thereupon shall have the force of law, subject to disallowance by His Majesty, and any person contravening the same shall on summary conviction be liable for every contravention to a penalty not exceeding 107., or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a period not exceeding one calendar month.

Until further or other provision be made in the manner above prescribed the rules contained in Schedule II. hereto shall be and remain in force.

21. Every offence against this Ordinance shall be prosecuted Penalty. before a Police Magistrate or District Commissioner, and every person found guilty of such offence shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding 1007., or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a period not exceeding twelve calendar months, and any firearms or ammunition in relation to which the offence is committed shall, unless the Court otherwise directs, be forfeited to His Majesty, and every Police Magistrate and District Commissioner shall have jurisdiction to hear and determine any charge made under this Ordinance.

22.
