The employees concerned in
this dispute ceased work on
Mar. 31, 1911, on the termi-
nation of a two years' agree-
ment with the employing
companies. A board was
established by request of the
employees on Apr. 18. The
board's report was accom-
panied by a minority report
by Mr. Carter. The opera-
tors signified their willing-
ness to negotiate an agree-
ment along the general lines
suggested by the board in its
majority report; the em-
ployees on the other hand,
accepting the minority re-
port of Mr. Carter. The
majority of the mines re-
mained closed down until
the middle of November,
when a new agreement was
signed by the parties con-
cerned effective to Mar. 31,
1915.

Report was signed by all three
members of the board, with
slight objections noted by
MM. Hannah and Stubbs.
After the award of the board
had been communicated to

both parties concerned there
was a cessation of work for a
few days. The department
was later informed that a
settlement had been reached
on the basis of the board's
findings, and work resumed.

Report of board was accompanied by minority report signed by Mr. McDonell. The employees, being unwilling to accept the board report, declared a strike, of which no formal settlement was reported. Operations were resumed in the company's mine at the end of July.

A unanimous report was pre-
sented by the board in which
it stated that a settlement
had been effected of all points
at issue, an agreement ef-
fective from May 1, 1911, to
Apr. 30, 1912, having been
signed by both parties.
Whilst proceedings looking to
the establishment of a board
were in progress, the depart-
ment was informed that a
settlement had been reached
on the various points at
issue.

Oct. 11 Oct. 23 Report was signed by all three
members of the board, Mr.
O'Donoghue, however, dis-
senting in certain particu-
lars. Department was in-
formed that the findings of
the board were not accept-
able to the employees con-
cerned. No cessation of
work, however, occurred.
