to the Lord, ye heav'nly hosts,
And thou, O earth, adore : Let death and hell, thro' all their coasts, Stand trembling at his pow'r.
2. His sounding chariot shakes the sky, He makes the clouds his throne; There all his stores of lightning lie, 'Till vengeance darts them down.
3. His nostrils breathe out fiery streams, And from his awful tongue A sov'reign voice divides the flames, And thunder roars along.
4. Think, O my soul, the dreadful day, When this incensed God
Shall rend the sky, and burn the sea, And send his wrath abroad !
5. What shall the wretch, the sinner do? He once defy'd the Lord : But he shall dread the thund'rer now, And sink beneath his word.
6. Tempests of angry fire stall roll, To blast the rebel-worm, And beat upon his naked soul In one eternal storm.

The books opened, Rev.xx. 12. HE mighty deep gives up her trust, Aw'd by the Judge's high command;
Both small and great now quit their dust, And round the dread tribunal stand.
2. Behold the awful books display'd, Big with th' important fates of men; Each deed and word now public made, As wrote by heaven's unerring pen. 3. To ev'ry soul, the books assign The joyous or the dread reward: Sinners in vain lament and pine, No plea the Judge will here regard.
4. Lord, when these awful leaves unfold, May life's fair book my soul approve : There may I read my name enroll'd, And triumph in redeeming love.

2. From heav'n angelic voices sound, See the Almighty Jesus crown'd ! Girt with omnipotence and grace, And glory decks the Saviour's face.
3. Descending on his azure throne, He claims the kingdoms for his own; The kingdoms all obey his word, And hail him their triumphant Lord! 4. Shout all the people of the sky, And all the saints of the Most High; Our Lord who now his right obtains, For ever and for ever reigns.
