first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it; I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them; Ipray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife ; and therefore I cannot come. So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, lord it is

done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, that none of

The Epistle. 1 John iii. 13-18. ARVEL not, my brethren, if the world hate you. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Who

soever hateth his brother, is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little

children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue;

but in deed and in truth.

sees and scribes murmured, saying: " This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them." And he spake this parable unto them, saying: "What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders rejoicing. And when he cometh home he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them: rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth more than over ninety and nine just persons which need no repentance. Either what woman, having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently 'till she find it? and when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying: rejoice with me: for I have found the piece which I had lost. LIKEWISE I SAT UNTO YOU, THERE IS For IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD OVER ONE SINNER THAT REPENTETH.

UMBLE yourselves, therefore, mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist sted. fast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered awhile, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you: To him be glory and de minion for ever and ever.

THE FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY.

The Gospel. Luke vi. 36-42.

E ye, therefore, merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom: for with the same measure that ye mete withal, it shall be measured to you again. And HE spake a parable unto them, "Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? the disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? either how canst thou say to thy brother, brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye : when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam that is in thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye."

The Epistle. Rom. viii. 18-23.

I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature, was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope. Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain to

gether until now: And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

THE FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY.

The Gospel. Luke v. 1—11.

ND it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, and saw two ships standing by the lake, but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now, when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon: "Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught." And Simon answering, said unto him: "Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net." And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes, and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesu's knees, saying: "Depart from me; FOR I AM A SINFUL MAN, O LORD." For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: and so was also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners of Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon: "Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men." And, when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all and followed him,

The Epistle. 1 Pet. iii. 8-15.

UNALLY, be ye all of one mind, having com

passion one of another: love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous; Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrawise, blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But if ye suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye; and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

THE SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY.

The Gospel. Matt. v. 2026.

OR I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into. the kingdom of heaven. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, thou shalt not kill; and, whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause, shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his. brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, thou fool, shall be in danger of
