He was secretary or assistant-secretary of his Conference for fifteen years, a delegate to the General Conferences of 1876 and 1880, and editor-in-chief of the Daily Christian Advocate during the Centennial General Conference of 1860, 1872, 1876, 1884, and 1888; also edited the Methodist Year-Book from 1866 to 1889 inclusive, and has been a member of the Board of Managers of the Methodist Sundayschool Union for thirty years. During his editorial relation with The Christian Advocate he was also pastor for nearly four years of the John Street Church, New York City. Dr. De Puy received his degree of M.A. from Genesee College, the degree of D.D. from Union College, and the degree of LL.D. of Mt. Union College.
