ANNOUNCEMENT.

The undersigned, having had nearly twenty-five years' experience and business acquaintance with teachers and educators, and the educational institutions in the U. S., both public and private, proposes to establish The New American Teachers' Agency, headquarters at Cincinnati, O. The endeavor of this Agency will be to furnish teachers and educators with accurate information as to vacancies and positions to be filled; also to furnish Boards of Education, Private Schools, Colleges and Employers of Teachers, accurate and reliable information as to the merits of applicants for positions, always endeavoring to recommend the right teacher to the right place.

This new Teachers' Agency will have the advantage of new names, and be able to serve teachers applying to it more promptly than those agencies which have many names of long standing on their registers.

Its location near the center of population in the United States, and the long acquaintance of its manager with the wants of teachers and employers all over the country, and the confidence manifested in its success, by hundreds of letters of endorsement already received, lead the undersigned to hope for a liberal patronage from the educational public. COOPER'S

J. FENIMORE COOPER is the greatest of America's writers of fiction. His works are now the only popular monument of a period in our history that has passed away forever. The books breathe of the primeval forest and as you read you think you hear the wind in the trees, now the whispering zephyr and anor. the devastating tornado. You listen for the crack of the hunter's rifle and you start aside as the red man's arrow whizzes by your car. The blood in your veins curdles at the sound of the savage war-whoop and you shrink as you seem to feel the knife at your scalp. There the buffalo in countless herds shakes the prairie with the thunder of his frantic stampede. We can fancy we see the old log house, its walls pierced by blazing arrows defended by a handful of hardy pioneers against a horde

LEATHER

STOCKING

of yelling savages. The fire of heroism kindles in our breasts and we long to participate in the terrible conflict. The wily indian matches his intuitive subtlety against the superior reason of the pale face and the continual recurrence of exciting situations holds the reader's attention from the first chapter to the last word. Then the possibilities of true nobility of soul in the savage heart are powerfully portrayed in the character of Uncas, the last of the Mohicans. This is the very latest edition of the celebrated works and we have made special arrangements with the publishers which enables us to practically give them to our subscribers. The titles of the Leather Stocking Tales are The Deerslayer; The Last of the Mohicans, The Pathfinder; The Pioneer; and The Prairie.
