Confirm certain Provisional Orders made by the Board of A.D. 1878.
Trade under the Gas and Water Works Facilities Act,
1870, relating to Bognor Gas, Dysynni Gas, Elland Gas,
Formby Gas, Godalming Gas, Greenhithe Gas, Sandown
Gas, Shanklin Gas, Weston-super-Mare Gas, Alcester
Water, Cuckfield Haywards-Heath and Lindfield Water,
Fowey Water, Frith Hill Godalming and Farncombe
Water, Holywell and District Water, Newquay Water,
Norwood (Middlesex) Water, Wokingham Water, Hoylake
and West Kirby Gas and Water, New Tredegar Gas and
Water, and Walton-on-the-Naze Gas and Water.

THEREAS under the authority of the Gas and Water Works Facilities Act, 1870, the Board of Trade have made the several Provisional Orders set out in the schedule to this Act annexed:

5 And whereas a Provisional Order made by the Board of Trade under the authority of the Gas and Water Works Facilities Act, 1870, is not of any validity or force whatever until the confirmation thereof by Act of Parliament:

And whereas it is expedient that the several Provisional Orders 10 made by the Board of Trade under the authority of the said Act, and set out in the schedule to this Act, be confirmed by Act of Parliament:

Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and 15 Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Gas and Water Orders Con- Short title. firmation Act, 1878."

2. The several Orders set out in the schedule to this Act shall Confirmation of Orders in 20 be and the same are hereby confirmed; and all the provisions schedule.

A.D. 1878. thereof, in manner and form as they are set out in the said schedule, shall, from and after the passing of this Act, have full validity and force.

The SCHEDULE of ORDERS.

1. GAS ORDERS.

1. BOGNOR GAS.-Order empowering the Bognor Gaslight and Coke Company, Limited, to raise Additional Capital.

2. DYSYNNI GAS.-Order empowering the Dysynni Gas Company, Limited, to maintain and continue Gasworks and to make and supply Gas in the parish of Towyn in the county of Merioneth.

3. ELLAND GAS.-Order empowering the Elland-cum-Greetland Gas Com-
pany to construct additional Gasworks and to raise Additional Capital.
4. FORMBY GAS.-Order empowering the Formby Gas Company, Limited,
to construct Gasworks, and to make and supply Gas within the town-
ship of Formby in the parish of Walton-on-the-Hill in the county of 15
Lancaster.

5. GODALMING GAS.-Order empowering the Godalming Gas and Coke
Company, Limited, to maintain and continue Gasworks and to make
and supply Gas in the parishes of Godalming, Compton, Witley, and
Hambledon in the county of Surrey.

6. GREENHITHE GAS.-Order empowering the Greenhithe Gas Company, Limited, to maintain and continue Gasworks, and to make and supply Gas in the parish of Swanscombe in the county of Kent.

7. SANDOWN GAS.-Order empowering the Sandown Gas and Coke Com-
pany, Limited, to maintain and continue Gasworks, and to construct 25
additional Gasworks, and to make and supply Gas, in the parishes of
Yaverland and Brading in the Isle of Wight and county of South-
ampton.

8. SHANKLIN GAS.-Order empowering the Shanklin Gas Company,
Limited, to maintain and continue Gasworks and to construct additional 30
Gasworks, and to make and supply Gas, in the parishes of Shanklin
and Brading in the Isle of Wight and county of Southampton.

9. WESTON-SUPER-MARE GAS.-Order empowering the Weston-super-
Mare Gaslight Company to raise Additional Capital.

2. WATER ORDERS.

10. ALCESTER WATER.-Order empowering the Alcester Waterworks Company, Limited, to construct Waterworks and to supply Water in the parishes of Alcester and Arrow, and hamlet of Oversley, all in the county of Warwick.

11. CUCKFIELD, HAYWARDS-HEATH, AND LINDFIELD WATER.-Order A.D. 1878.
authorising the construction of Waterworks and the supply of Water
in Cuckfield and other parishes in the county of Sussex.

12. FOWEY WATER.-Order empowering the Fowey Waterworks Company,
Limited, to construct Waterworks and to supply Water in the town
and parish of Fowey in the county of Cornwall.

13. FRITH HILL, GODALMING, AND FARNCOMBE WATER.-Order em-
powering the Frith Hill, Godalming, and Farncombe Water Company,
Limited, to construct Waterworks and to supply Water to the parish
of Godalming in the county of Surrey.

14. HOLYWELL AND DISTRICT WATER.-Order empowering the Holywell
and District Waterworks Company, Limited, to construct Waterworks
and to supply Water at Holywell and District in the county of Flint.
15. NEWQUAY WATER.-Order empowering the Newquay Water Com-
pany, Limited, to construct Waterworks and to supply Water within
the District of the Local Board of Newquay in the county of Cornwall.
16. NORWOOD (MIDDLESEX) WATER.-Order empowering the Norwood
(Middlesex) Waterworks Company, Limited, to construct Waterworks
and to supply Water in the precinct or parish of Norwood in the county
of Middlesex.

17. WOKINGHAM WATER.-Order empowering the Wokingham District
Water Company, Limited, to construct Waterworks and to supply
Water in the town and parish of Wokingham and other parishes and
places in the county of Berks.

3. GAS AND WATER ORDERS.

18. HOYLAKE AND WEST KIRBY GAS AND WATER.-Order empowering
the Hoylake and West Kirby Gas and Water Company, Limited, to
construct Gasworks and Waterworks, and to make and supply Gas and
to supply Water within the parishes of West Kirby and Bidston, the
townships of Great Meolse, Hoose, and Little Meolse, otherwise
Hoylake, and of Saughall, Massie, West Kirby, and Grange, all in
the county of Chester.

19. NEW TREDEGAR GAS AND WATER.-Order empowering the New
Tredegar Gas and Water Company, Limited, to maintain and continue
Gasworks and Waterworks, and to manufacture and supply Gas, and
to supply Water, within certain parts of the Rhymney Valley in the
counties of Monmouth and Glamorgan.

20. WALTON-ON-THE-NAZE GAS AND WATER.-Order empowering the
Walton-on-the-Naze Gas and Water Company, Limited, to maintain
and continue Gasworks and Waterworks, to manufacture and supply
Gas, to construct additional Waterworks, and to supply Water to
Walton-on-the-Naze and the neighbourhood thereof in the county
of Essex.
