With the Statutes and Forms. BY J. W. WILLIS BUND, M.A., LL.B., OF LINCOLN'S INN, BARRISTER-AT-LAW. SECOND EDITION. LONDON: BUTTERWORTHS, 7, FLEET STREET, Law Publishers to the Queen's most excellent Majesty. DUBLIN: HODGES, FIGGIS & CO., GRAFTON STREET. CALCUTTA: THACKER, SPINK & CO. MELBOURNE: GEORGE ROBERTSON. EDINBURGH: T. & T. CLARK; BELL & BRADFUTE. PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION. THE First Edition of this Book, which was published when the 1875 Act was passed, having been exhausted, advantage has been taken of the changes made in the law by the legislation of this year to publish a new Edition. These changes are so great that the work has been completely re-written. The Digest of Customs of the Country has been enlarged and extended by information given by a number of local gentlemen, for whose help the Author is greatly indebted. The new Act raises a series of difficult points of construction that can only be decided by the Courts; most of these have been noticed in the notes. For the reason mentioned in the Preface to the original Edition reference has been made to as few authorities as possible, so as to make the book not so much a legal text-book as a practical guide to those who will have to carry out the Act. |
