CHAPTER 132.

An Act to amend "An Act to incorporate Les Soeurs de la Charite de l'Hopital General de St-Boniface."

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:-

1. Section 3, of chapter 29 of the Statutes of Manitoba Section 3, cap. of 1872, being "An Act to incorporate Les Sœurs de la Charité Statutes of de l'Hôpital Général de St-Boniface," is hereby amended by amended. striking out after the word "in" in the fourth line thereof the words "the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Boniface" and by substituting therefor the words "all Roman Catholic Dioceses which now exist or may hereafter be created within the boundaries of Manitoba."

2. This Act shall come into force on the day it is assented to.

CHAPTER 133.

An Act to incorporate the Manitoba Patriotic Fund.

WHEREAS there has been heretofore organized and in Preamble. active operation since the commencement of the present war a voluntary association known as "The Manitoba Patriotic Fund," composed of certain citizens of this Province, the object of which is to raise moneys by voluntary subscription for use towards the sustenance of wives, children and dependents of residents of Manitoba, who, during the present war, are or have been or may be on active service with the naval and military forces of the British Empire and Great Britain's allies; and whereas large sums have been raised and expended by said voluntary association for the aforesaid purposes, and it is necessary in the public interest that the aforesaid undertaking be continued and so established as to be able to provide for and meet the needs of the present and increasing number of dependents above described,

Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

SHORT TITLE

1. This Act may be cited as "The Manitoba Patriotic Fund Short title. Act."

Pickup, Clarence B. Piper, Hugh A. Robson, the Honourable Robert Rogers, Charles F. Roland, C. W. Rowley, Robert J. Shore, A. Skaletar, Harvey Smith and H. M. Tucker, all of the City of Winnipeg, in the Province of Manitoba, and the mayors for the time being of the cities of Winnipeg, Saint Boniface, Portage la Prairie and Brandon and of the towns of Transcona, Dauphin, Virden, Morden, Carberry and Minnedosa, and the reeves of the rural municipalities of Assiniboia, Rosser, East Kildonan, West Kildonan, St. Vital and Fort Garry are incorporated under the name of "The

Manitoba Patriotic Fund," which body corporate is hereinafter referred to as the corporation.

3. The objects of the corporation shall be to collect, administer and distribute the funds herein before mentioned and other moneys for the assistance, in case of need, of the wives, children and dependents resident in Manitoba of officers and men, who, during the present war, are or have been or may be on active service with the naval and military forces of the British Empire and Great Britain's allies.

4. There shall be vested in the corporation:

(a) all moneys, securities, choses in action, subscriptions and other property of the voluntary association hereinbefore referred to which the said association may agree to transfer to the corporation;

(b) all moneys at any time contributed to be expended or distributed by or through the corporation.

5. Upon the transfer of the moneys, securities, choses in debts, etc., of action, subscriptions and other property of the said voluntary the voluntary association the corporation shall be subject to the obligations, debts and liabilities of the said association up to the amount so to be received; provided that this Act shall not create any obligation in favor of any other person.

6. The corporation shall be authorized to receive, administer and distribute for the objects aforesaid the moneys which from time to time may be levied or appropriated or directed to be applied for such objects by or under the authority of the Legislature of this Province or the Lieutenant-Governorin-Council or the corporation of any city, town or rural municipality or other public authority, and also all moneys which may be contributed to the corporation by or from any other source, public or private, for such objects, and all moneys held by the Canadian Patriotic Fund at the credit of the said voluntary association or received by the said The Canadian Patriotic Fund from persons resident or doing business in Manitoba for any of the purposes aforesaid.

7. (1) The affairs of the corporation shall be administered and its powers exercised by an executive committee consisting of a president and such other officers and members as the corporation may from time to time determine.

8. In case of the death, resignation or withdrawal of member- Vacancies in ship or permanent absence from the Province of any member of the corporation the executive committee may nominate and appoint, from time to time, as often as may be necessary, another person to take the place of the person who has so vacated office. 9. 10. The corporation shall have the power to establish Branch or local branches or local organizations throughout Manitoba, and to associations. co-operate with and financially assist any association or organization established in any place in Manitoba for similar purposes to those of the corporation upon such terms and conditions as the corporation may determine.

11. For the purpose of administration of the fund and pend- Banking. ing the final distribution thereof, the corporation may deposit its funds with any chartered bank or banks and draw thereon from time to time according to the needs of the corporation in carrying out said purposes.
