An Act to amend and consolidate the law respecting the regulation and taxation of public amusements

[Assented to May 5th, 1923]

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Amusements Act."

INTERPRETATION

Title.

2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, the Definitions. expression:

a

(a) "advertising film" or "advertising slide" means film or slide advertising goods, merchandise or lands, but does not include a film or slide advertising the programmes of the theatre in which the same are exhibited;

(b) "amusement" means any contest, dance, entertainment, exhibition, game (other than taxable games as herein defined), performance, programme or show;

(c) "censor board" means the board of censors or joint board of censors, as the case may be, created and appointed hereunder;

(d) "dancing hall" or "dancing pavilion" means any hall, pavilion, place, premises, room, tent or structure of any kind kept or used for public dancing, and includes a cafe, hotel or restaurant where facilities are supplied and used for public dancing;
