The absence of any work upon the practice in winding up Companies by the Court of Chancery led the author, for his own personal instruction, to make a collection of the cases on the subject. Thence he was induced to put together the text of this work. He has in no way designed to write a Treatise, but his sole object has been to produce a practical work or manual, and whilst conscious that, in dealing with a subject somewhat complicated in its nature and details, he may not have escaped some errors, he trusts that the object in view has been attained. Many Forms have been added to those set out in the third Schedule to the Order of 11th November, 1862, and the Precedents of Costs have been settled with bills which have been taxed. The Table of Cases has been prepared in a form which it is considered will be found of value for reference by the Practitioner. It contains many cases not cited in the text of the work.
