The month of January comes in with fine weather, which however will not last many days, as by the fifth day stormy weather will begin to show itself with wind and downfal. By the middle of the month the weather will again become finer, but rather cold, with brisk winds which will continue more or less until the end of the month, but the temperature of the air will not be so very low as it often is in this month, as the wind will be for several days from the south west. High tides at the new moon of this month. The Grimsby Packet leaves Grimsby, about 4 hours before high water at Hull; leaves Hull, for Grimsby, a little before high water. The Packets for Gainsborough, Selby, Leeds, Thorne, Doncaster, Sheffield, York, Goole, &c., leave Hull from 2 to 3 hours before high water. THE WEATHER. February comes in with a dry air, and the winds from the west and south-west quarters. After the 6th day the atmosphere will contain a little more moisture, but we do not think there will be any very great downfal for the whole of this month, the most will be about or after the 20th day, but generally speaking, the present February will be as fine as we have had it for several years past. |
