Act, where the mode thereof is not otherwise expressly provided, may be by letter delivered at the chief office of the company in Saskatchewan, or sent by registered post addressed to the company, its manager or agent at such chief office or in any other manner to an authorised agent of the company.

FEES.

200. Each company shall pay to the superintendent the following fees:

(a) For recording and filing in the office of the superintendent the documents required by section 16 of this Act, $5.00;

(b) For initial license to do business or renewal thereof:

201. (5) Any company or any officer or agent of any company causing any policy, interim receipt or other insuring document against fire loss to be printed, published or issued falsely bearing the words "Licensed under The Saskatchewan Insurance Act," or to like effect shall be liable to a penalty of $200 for each such offence.'

(6) Any person or firm who or corporation which solicits membership for, or in any manner assists in procuring membership in, any friendly society or friendly benefit society not licensed under this Act but which is required to be licensed, shall for each offence be liable on conviction to a fine of not less than $50 or more than $200.

(7) Any penalty imposed by this Act when recovered shall belong to the province.

204. Section 80 of this Act shall come into force on the first day of January, 1916, and chapter 80 of The Revised Statutes of Saskatchewan 1909, is repealed as from that date.

205. The following enactments are hereby repealed:

CHAPTER 16

An Act respecting Cities.

IS Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan enacts as follows:

SHORT TITLE.

1. This Act may be cited as "The City Act." R.S.S. 1909, c. 84, s. 1.

INTERPRETATION.

2. In this Act unless the context otherwise requires the expression:

1. "Elector" or "voter" means a person entitled to vote at municipal and school elections in a city;

2. "City commissioners" means the commissioners of a city;

3. "Council" means the municipal council of a city; 4. "Burgess" is an elector who is such in respect of freehold property;

5. "Felony" means an indictable offence which since the passing of The Criminal Code is punishable with death or imprisonment for a period of five years or over, and "misdemeanour" means any offence for which under the said code the extreme penalty is imprisonment for a term less than five years and not less than two years;

6. "Income" means the profit or gain (whether ascertained and capable of computation as being wages, salary or other fixed amount, or unascertained as being fees or emoluments or profits from a trade or commercial or financial or other business or calling) directly or indirectly received by a person from any office or employment or from any profession or calling or from any trade, manufacture or business during the year next preceding that in which the assessment is made, and includes the interest, dividends or profits directly or indirectly received from money at interest upon any security or without security or from stocks or from any other investment and also profit or gain from any other source whatever; 7. "Business" shall include any trade, profession, calling, occupation or employment;
