An act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money required for defraying certain Expenses of the Civil Government for the eighteen months ending on the thirty-first of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and for other purposes connected with the Public Service. [Assented to 24th February, 1868.] Most GRACIOUS SOVEREIGN : W H EREAS it appears by messages from His Excellency, Preamble. y the Honorable Sir Narcisse Fortunat BELLEAU, Knight, Lieutenant Governor of this Province of Quebec, and the estimates accompanying the same, that the sums hereinafter mentioned are or may be required to defray certain expenses of the Government of this Province, not otherwise provided for, for the eighteen months ending on the thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and for other purposes connected with the public service; may it therefore please Your Majesty, that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislature of Quebec, that: 1. From and out of the consolidated revenue fund of this pro- $2,097,717.15 vince, there shall and may be paid and applied, a sum not applied to pur, poses mentioned exceeding in the whole two million, ninety seven thousand, in schedule. seven hundred and seventeen dollars and fifteen cents, for be deemed debts of the to futuro ment of accounts defraying the several charges and expenses of the civil government and public service of this province, or which, in the interest of the public service, may require to be so paid and applied, whether for account of this province or otherwise, for the eighteen months ending on the thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, which are set forth in the schedule to this act, and for the other purposes therein mentioned. Nothing herein or in the said schedule contained, nor povince yet any payment or application whatever of moneys hereby apbut to be subject propriated, or of any part thereof, shall be held to import that setther such moneys are so paid or applied for charges or expenses of with the Domin- this province properly so called, or are not otherwise provided ion and Ontario. for, or are to be finally carried to account of the said consoli dated revenue fund"; but on the contrary, every such payment and application shall be held to be only made provisionally from such fund, and subject to all rightful adjustment in account hereafter, in respect of the dominion and of the province of Ontario, and of all special funds which the same may at all affect, and otherwise. be 3.
