BRITISH ORDER IN COUNCIL terminating the Operation in Corea of the China and Corea Orders in Council.Windsor, January 23, 1911.*

WHEREAS by a Treaty dated the 26th November, 1883,† between Her late Majesty Queen Victoria and the King of Corea, jurisdiction over the persons and property of British subjects in Corea was conferred upon Her Majesty; and

Whereas by a Treaty dated the 22nd August, 1910, between the Emperor of Japan and the Emperor of Corea it was provided that Corea should be annexed to Japan; and

Whereas it is desirable that the jurisdiction of the Courts established under "The China and Corea Orders in Council, 1904 to 1910," should no longer be exercised in Corea :

Now, therefore, His Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in that behalf by "The Foreign Jurisdiction Act, 1890," or otherwise in His Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of his Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as "The Corea Order in Council, 1911."

2. As regards all such matters and cases as come within the jurisdiction of the Courts established by or under the control of the Japanese Government in Corea, the provisions of "The China and Corea Orders in Council, 1904 to 1910," regulating the exercise of His Majesty's consular jurisdiction in Corea shall cease to be in force and operation in Corea as from the date of the annexation of Corea by Japan, except as regards any judicial matters pending in any of the Courts established by such Orders at the date of the commencement of this Order.

3.-(1.) "The China and Corea Orders in Council, 1904 to 1910," may be cited as "The China Orders in Council, 1904 to 1910," and the words "and Corea" shall be omitted from the

short title of each of the Orders therein comprised, and from all Rules of Court made thereunder.

(2.) The words "and Corea" shall be omitted from the title of His Britannic Majesty's Supreme Court for China and Corea. And the Right Honourable Sir Edward Grey, Baronet, one of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State is to give the necessary directions herein.

BRITISH ORDER IN COUNCIL respecting the Tonnage Measurement of Spanish Vessels. London, May 25, 1911.*

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 25th day of May, 1911. PRESENT: THE KING'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section 84,† sub-section (1), of "The Merchant Shipping Act, 1894," it is enacted that whenever it appears to His Majesty the King in Council that the tonnage regulations of the said Act have been adopted by any foreign country, and are in force there, His Majesty in Council may order that the ships of that country shall, without being remeasured in His Majesty's dominions, be deemed to be of the tonnage denoted in their certificates of registry or other national papers in the same manner, to the same extent, and for the same purposes as the tonnage denoted in the certificate of registry of a British ship is deemed to be the tonnage of that ship.

And whereas it appears to His Majesty that the tonnage regulations of the said Act have been adopted by the Government of His Majesty the King of Spain, and are now in force in that country:

Now, therefore, His Majesty is pleased, by and with the advice of his Privy Council, to order that the merchant-ships of the said Kingdom of Spain, the certificates of registry or other national papers of which are dated on or after the 1st April, 1910, shall be deemed to be of the tonnage denoted in such certificates of registry or other national papers in the same manner, to the same extent, and for the same purposes as the tonnage denoted in the certificate of registry of a British ship is deemed to be the tonnage of that ship.

And His Majesty is further pleased to direct that the Orders of Her late Majesty in Council, dated respectively the 17th day

WHEREAS by "The Extradition Acts, 1870 to 1906," it was, amongst other things, enacted that, where an arrangement has been made with any foreign State with respect to the surrender to such State of any fugitive criminals, His Majesty may, by Order in Council, direct that the said Acts shall apply in the case of such foreign State; and that His Majesty may, by the same or any subsequent Order, limit the operation of the Order, and restrict the same to fugitive criminals who are in, or suspected of being in, the part of His Majesty's dominions specified in the Order, and render the operation thereof subject to such conditions, exceptions, and qualifications as may be deemed expedient;

And whereas a Treaty was concluded on the 12th day of September, 1908, between His Majesty King Edward VII and

the President of the Republic of Paraguay for the extradition of criminals, which Treaty is in the terms following :

And whereas the ratifications of the said Treaty were exchanged at Asuncion on the 30th day of January, 1911:

Now, therefore, His Majesty, by and with the advice of his Privy Council, and in virtue of the authority committed to him by the said recited Acts, doth order, and it is hereby ordered, that from and after the 17th day of July, 1911, the said Acts shall apply in the case of Paraguay and of the said Treaty with the President of the Republic of Paraguay:

Provided always that the operation of the said Acts shall be and remain suspended within the Dominion of Canada so long as an Act of the Parliament of Canada, being Part I of Chapter 155* of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1906, and entitled "An Act respecting the Extradition of Fugitive Criminals," shall continue in force there, and no longer.

And whereas a Treaty was concluded on the 29th day of October, 1901, between His late Majesty King Edward VII and His late Majesty the King of the Belgians, for the Extradition of Criminals, which Treaty was amended by a supplementary Convention concluded on the 5th day of March, 1907; †

And whereas a further Convention was concluded on the 3rd day of March, 1911, between His Majesty and His Majesty the King of the Belgians, amending Article VI of the aforesaid Treaty, which Convention is in the terms following:

And whereas the ratifications of the above Convention were exchanged at London on the 10th day of May, 1911;

Now, therefore, His Majesty, by and with the advice of his Privy Council, and in virtue of the authority committed to him by the said recited Acts, doth order, and it is hereby ordered, that from and after the 25th day of August, 1911, the said Acts shall apply in the case of Belgium under and in accordance with the said Treaty of the 29th October, 1901, and the supplementary Conventions of the 5th March, 1907, and 3rd March, 1911:

Provided always that the operation of the said Acts shall be and remain suspended within the Dominion of Canada so long as an Act of the Parliament of Canada, being Part I of Chapter 155‡ of "The Revised Statutes of Canada, 1906," and entitled "An Act respecting the Extradition of Fugitive Criminals," shall continue in force there, and no longer.
