To continue an Act to amend the Laws relating to Loan Societies.

HEREAS an Act was passed in the fourth year of the Preamble: reign of Her Majesty, intituled, "An Act to amend the 3 & 4 Vict. Laws relating to Loan Societies," which Act has been continued by sundry Acts until the First day of October in the year One thousand 5 eight hundred and Forty-eight, and to the End of the then next Session of Parliament, and it is expedient that the same should be further continued; Be it Enacted, by The QUEEN's most Excellent MAJESTY, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, 10 and by the Authority of the same, THAT the said Act shall be further continued to the First day of October in the year One thousand eight hundred and Forty-nine, and to the End of the then next Session of Parliament.

HEREAS an Act was passed in the ninth and tenth years of the reign of Her present Majesty, intituled, " An Act for making Preliminary Inquiries in certain Cases of Applications for Local Acts:"

And whereas the said Act has been found useful and beneficial: BUT, inasmuch as certain provisions of the same may be amended so as to facilitate such Inquiries, and to lessen the expense thereof, it is expedient to repeal the said Act, and to enact other provisions in lieu thereof;

BB it therefore Enacted, by The QUEEN's most Excellent MAJESTY, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, THAT the said recited Act shall be and the same is hereby repealed.

And be it Enacted, That in any case where it is intended to make an application to Parliament for an Act for the establishment of any waterworks, or for draining, paving, cleansing, lighting or otherwise improving any town, district or place, or for making, maintaining or altering any burial-ground or cemetery, or for continuing, altering or enlarging any of the powers or provisions contained in any Act or 646.

Inspector or Inspectors to proceed to place and

make examination under direction of Commission

Acts relating to any of the purposes aforesaid, a notice in writing of
such intention to apply to Parliament in the next ensuing Session for
an Act for any of the above objects shall on or before the last day of
October in the present year, or on or before the last day of September
in any subsequent year, or in case such day shall fall on a Sunday, 5
then on or before the day preceding such day, be sent or delivered to,
or at the Office of the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Woods,
Forests, Land Revenues, Works and Buildings; and such notice shall
be signed by the Promoter or by any Two or more of the Promoters
of such intended Act, or by some person duly authorized on his or 10
their behalf, and shall be accompanied by a statement in duplicate of
the intended objects and provisions of such Act; in which statement
shall also be described and specified :

First. The public benefit proposed by such Act

Secondly. The rights, privileges, interests or property of any 15 local body or company which may be affected by such Act, and the mode in which they may be affected thereby ;

Thirdly. The amount of funds required for carrying the Act into effect;

Fourthly. The mode in which it is proposed to raise such funds; 20 Fifthly. If it is proposed to raise such funds by loan, the mode whereby and the period within which such loan is to be repaid.

And be it Enacted, That in every case in which such notice shall have been sent or delivered as aforesaid, the said Promoter or Promoters shall also send or deliver to or at the same office, on or before 25 the last day of November in the present year, or on or before the last day of October in any subsequent year, or in case such day shall fall on a Sunday, then on or before the day preceding such day, a copy of such plans, sections and books of reference or other documents, if any, as may be required by the Standing Orders of either House of Parliament for the time being to be deposited at any public office.

And be it Enacted, That where any such notice as aforesaid shall have been given to the said Commissioners, it shall be lawful for them, if they shall consider the same necessary or expedient, but not otherwise, on being satisfied with the security for payment of the 35 expenses, as hereinafter provided, by writing under their hands, to ers of Woods, appoint One or more competent person or persons, as they shall think necessary, to be an Inspector or Inspectors for the purpose of making a preliminary examination and survey under the powers of this Act in relation to the proposed Act of which such notice shall have been given; and the said Inspector or Inspectors shall proceed to the town,
